The Executive Officer represents the CO to the officer crew of the Merlin, as well as ensuring all orders are carried out by all hands. She has the authority to step in to take command of the Eagle if the CO is incapacitated, and is one of only two who can remove the CO from command. Second Executive Officer (2nd XO)

All enlisted Engineers have expertise in a particular field of study (such as Warp Core Specialist, Damage Control, Computer Systems, etc). These personal are highly qualified in their field of work, as it often requires specialist care and attention due to the sheer complexity of starship systems such as on the Merlin. Although all Engineers have a basic working knowledge of all systems, if there is a problem with a specific system then it is the duty of the specified Engineer to step in and take charge. The ACFO is second highest rank in the Flight Control department. His/her duties are as the CFO, and may be required to step in as CFO as and when required.

The CIO should be fully aware of all happenings within and without the Fleet, and during covert operations he/she offers advice and guidance.

Intelligence NCO
The Intelligence NCO may be one of three disciplines. The first is the Infiltration specialist, who is trained in covert operations and infiltration, getting in and out of enemy facilities undetected, gathering intel on the enemy or sabotage. The Collections Manager organises the intel received, sorts into order, and knows the best ways to gather certain types of intelligence. Finally, the Crypto-Analysis Specialist deciphers coded information, searches for keywords in information, and finally hands the report in crypto form to the appropriate personal.
When applying for Intelligence NCO, please state in which field you wish to specialise:

Medical orderlies are the working body of the department, carrying out the operations and patching people up. In close conjunction are the nurse; these men and women are trained in basic medical care and can deal with less serious issues, while in major surgery they can help, be it injecting the drugs or simply giving the patient reassurance. The nurses also oversee the wards to check all patients are well-rested and receiving the necessary care.
Counsellor
The Merlin has several counsellors. Trained in psychology the counsellor is there to speak to about problems that a crewmember may have, especially after a traumatic experience such as lose of a loved one. They deal with all emotional, personal and psychological problems within the crew.

In Communications the COps monitors all incoming/outgoing communications, as well as all internal communications.
The COps is a Head of Department.
