Host History:
She applied for symbiosis and after the first try, which she knew she would fail, was accepted for symbiosis. However she had no idea that this would become the most interesting part of her life. Alanna Jenel was going to change considerably.
She was joined to the Torlaan Symbiont a old Trill Ancient that only a very elite selection of hosts qualify for. Her personality changed overnight and in a startling turn of events she left her post at the Daystrom Institute to attend Starfleet Academy.
She found the Academy quite fascinating and it had its appeal, she could finally be free to act as eccentric as she wanted to and observe the student body’s reaction to her unique demenor. She participated in every aspect of Cadet Life, even playing a prank that put the entire senior class into complete chaos over one Senior Project. She expertly hid the project and devised a cleaver wild goose chase for the Senior Class to find their precious Senior Project. With Alanna collecting the data they spent two weeks until just before the due date, they found it attached to a tree outside with a small sign that identified it as the senior project.
Torlaan was almost disciplined for the prank, but she pointed out that the study she did was her contribution to the senior project. The faculty found it very interesting and the project passed with unparalleled success. But mostly Cadet Torlaan just wanted something interesting to happen.
She was then assigned to Deep Space Two as a operations officer and found the base fascinating. She served with distinction but only earned one minor mark on her record. One day while serving on the base the local Ferengi Bartender cheated her on a game of Tonga. She planned her revenge well. By the time the Ferengi realized what happened he was a she and she lost his entire business to the FCA.
After her assignment to Deep Space Two, Lt. Torlaan was asked by the Federation Diplomatic Corps to accept another appointment as a Federation Ambassador. At first she refused, she never liked the idea of boring diplomatic functions, however she learned of the Dream Chaser program and was intrigued by it. It offered Alanna everything she could ask for in a Diplomatic Post, so she accepted.
Dr. Cyrel Torlaan
Cyrel was one of the first Trill to take a symbiont. He lived back during a time when the Trill discovered the symbionts. Cyrel was a Biologist that studied the symbionts and helped prove that they were intelligent.
“Cyrel was interesting, Well rooted in his opinions, even though he lived nearly eight hundred years ago. He was an excellent biologist. Sometimes I thought Cyrel wanted me around too much. I was right.”
General Vira Torlaan was the Surpreme Commander of the Unified Trill Assembly of Nations Defense Force. She defended the Trill People from an oppressive right wing government based on Trill’s moon Talla known as the Talla Coalition. During the decisive battle on the Talla Moon she was severely injured. However she recovered and kept on fighting until the Tallan People were liberated from the Coalition’s oppression.
“Sometimes I thought I would not survive Vira, her will was like neutronium and her body just wouldn’t quit.”
Counselor Cralen Torlaan was a politician that served as the Supreme Counselor of the Unified Assembly for eight years. He was credited as one of the most competent leaders of his time. However before he was scheduled to be released from office. He was shot from afar by an unknown gunman.
“Counselor Cralen Torlaan was the most direct person you would ever want to meet. If you got in his way, he would get in your face and give you such a hard time. I had trouble controlling the pure vengeance that got the man out of bed each day.”
Asella was a quiet astrophysicist. She lead an uneventful life charting galaxies. However she was soon bored with Astrophysics and became a dancer. “I think Asella was a better Dancer than a Astrophysicist. She found more happiness in drama than science.”
Alea was a doctor in medicine at Trill’s largest hospital. Like with the last host medicine began to bore her and like the last host, she became a dancer.
“Alea was busy, busy, busy. At first she did not think much of dancing, but after two years of her constant repetitive routine, she was more graceful than Asella. She married a nice dancing partner. Too bad he was not joined.”
Cira was a thief, a smuggler, and a cat burgular. She evaded the authorities all her life and even managed to steal a Symbiont when the Torlaan Symbiont was transferred. Torlaan and Cira were completely compatible with each other and they continued the life of a thief.
“Cira was the most carefree host I was ever joined with. The Commission tried for years to find her and remove me from her, but I loved the constant thrill of running from the law. In the end they got their symbiont, but they will never find her treasure.”
Dregan was quite possibly the most boring person anyone would want to meet. Even though he was a brilliant professor of Astrometrics, no one spent too much time around him.
“Dregan was a lifetime of torture, he would give boring repetitive lectures and sit in his office and stair at the ceiling for hours. I was screaming inside for him to become a dancer. But the man had no interest in the arts except his research, which was in gas.”
Xarga was a Freighter Captain that operated an Impulse Freighter within the Trill System and the nearby Varlon Belt.
“Xarga was loud, rowdy, and impatient, but I was not picky. I was hoping for another female host so I could have the option of convincing her to become a dancer if life got too boring. But he always managed to find something that kept me and him entertained. Even if it involved him placing his foot in his mouth.”
Siri Torlaan was the Trill Ambassador to Earth during the early days of the Federation. Siri found Humans Fascinating, and even married one.
“Her excellency Siri Torlaan was completely consumed by all things Earth. She even married a human. Lets just say that he danced well when the time came.”
Commander Varin Torlaan was a Starfleet Special Forces Commander that commanded SpecForce Team Six. A highly trained group of Starfleet Special Services.
“To this very day his Mission’s are classified. I cannot say too much about what Varin did, but he was a hell raiser. I bet there are still Klingons out there that want to give me a hard time over some of the things Varin did.”
Abbot Sarlas Torlaan was the leader of a Monastic Order on Trill known as the Order of the Tar-Lan. It was here that the Torlaan Symbiont learned much from his wisdom and discipline.
“I really enjoyed being joined to the Abbot. I gained much from his inner peace and tranquility, and he could cut a mean rug. He was not boring like Dregan, but he was disciplined. A man with life in balance. I miss him.”
Formerly know as Alanna Jenel, she started her joined life as a doctor of exobiology and exobotany. She would get bored of the constant routine. However unlike the dancers in the Torlaan lineage she decided not to become a dancer but go to starfleet academy.
“What is there to say about myself. I am in the prime of my life right now. Always the most interesting things to watch and do.
Alanna Jenel was a brilliant scientist in Exobiology and Exobotany at the Daystrom institute and enjoyed her life as one of the institutes top Doctor’s of Exobiology. However the life began to bore her and she looked for something to keep her mind occupied.
Personality:
Alanna Torlaan is a mysterious woman, even to her peers which are very few in number. She carries herself with a certain lightness that matches her personality and rarely gets angered. Alanna is only serious when she needs to be, otherwise she displays a finely tuned collection of eccentricities, and a personality that is hard to completely grasp. She has been known to toy with people to test them, and those tests help her determine the personality of every person she meets. Alanna is also fascinated with the Mundane and at times is consumed by the most simplest things.
Alanna's biggest strength is her ability to see the Mundane. A thing normal people pass of as unimportant, therefore she has an exceptional eye for detail. Her weakness is that sometimes she can be so eccentric that she is diffficult to understand.
