Family:
Lorimar, or Lori to friends and family, was born in San Francisco but surprisingly not a Starfleet brat. Her parents, Jayson and Griselda Hernandez were in fact the owners of a small Mexican grill that actually attracted a lot of Academy cadets. It was just off of the campus and the food was tasty so business was good. While the acknowledged the fact that Starfleet was important to their livelihood, Jayson and Griselda had other idea's for their 5 children (4 boys and Lori who was the youngest). They would'v.e been perfectly happy with their children staying home, on Earth and not gallivanting around the galaxy. They thought Starfleet was much too dangerous especially for their little girl.
But of course things don't always turn out as planned. As it would turn out 3 out of the 5 would choose the very life they didn't want. Of course it was inevitable. The children had grown up around the very people their parents didn't want them to become. Lori's oldest brother, Miguel was the first to leave the nest. After sailing through the Academy, he quickly flew up the ranks and is now XO on the USS Cambridge. After the initial shock of Miguel leaving, Richard, the second oldest followed suit. He didn't do to badly for himself either. While he didn't do quite as well as his older brother Richard still did fairly well at the Academy. He himself was now Chief Engineer on the USS Harold. It was just after Richard had taken the position on the Harold that Lorimar herself was gearing up to reveal to her parents that she too wished to enter Starfleet Academy.
Lori had always been closest to her brother Richard. He was seven years older than her but he always looked after her and seemed to make sure her other brothers didn't give her too hard of a time. When he left she knew that she would one day follow him. At first it might of been because of the hero worship a younger sibling sometimes gets, but then it became her true dream. However she didn't dare tell her parents about it until the time was right. So her dream remained a hidden one until the time she got her acceptance letter. Her parents took the news hard. It was the last thing that they had accepted. Her mother couldn't look at her without crying and her father could hardly look at her at all.
Her brothers, Anthony and Alex, the ones still remaining on Earth tried to console both parents and daughter. But it was no use, her parents were both disappointed and scared that something would happen to their only daughter. The months leading up to her departure, which in all actuality wasn't even that far away... it was only the Academy, wer very strained. Her parents didn't say much to her. Her remaining brothers however did throw a small going away/congratulations where her father did manage to say that he was proud of her and that she shouldn't be a stranger. He expected her in the Cafe at least once a week while she was at the Academy.
With things between her parents less tense she was able to go on a relieved not. She did well at the Academy. She excelled in science and biology and her professors thought that she would be a natural candidate for the Medical program. So she signed up, as a matter of speaking. She thoroughly enjoyed the program, happy that she had chosen a slightly different path then Richard. She didn't want him to think he was shadowing him.
Once she was done with the Academy she took an assignment as a Staff Doctor on board the USS Grant. She was eager to prove herself just as capable as her older brothers and it wasn't too long before she was offered the position of ACMO on board the same ship. She eagerly accepted and awaited her next career move.

Personality:
Lorimar is friendly and outgoing. She's always willing to help out a friend, or anyone really in need. She's eager to prove herself and has always been considered an over achiever. But don't let her size fool you, people always seem to think they can walk all over her. But she's gotten the best of them in the end, her temper is pretty fiery when provoked far enough.
